The model

How the free and paid split works.

Is the open source version limited in any way?

No. Every feature ships in the open source tools - SSO, audit logs, cost tracking, multi-tenant isolation, unlimited apps and users. There is no community edition, no license key, and nothing held back for a paid tier. A plan buys support, not unlocks.

Can we self-host everything?

Yes - that is the only way it runs. Two containers and a Postgres database on your own infrastructure. Nothing calls home; the tools talk only to your cloud providers.

When should we buy a plan?

When an outage would page someone. If the Gateway fronts apps your users depend on, or the Portal holds the credentials your teams deploy with, a guaranteed response time is what you are buying.

Can we start free and upgrade later?

Yes - that is the expected path. Run everything on the Community tier for as long as you like. When Relight becomes load-bearing, a plan starts covering the same installation. Nothing to migrate.
